Hambleden Abandoned. Due to the adverse weather this spring we have been unable to carry out all of the site works and ground preparation required, and this together with a reduction in the volume of entries we would have expected to have received at this point has meant that reluctantly, the committee have decided to abandon today. What a busy summer it has been for everyone at South Oxfordshire Hunt South, I’m sure you’ve all enjoyed the extra time you’ve been able to spend with your horses during lockdown. Our Polo players, both old and new, have also been kept busy over the summer and despite the absence of PC polo, many have taken part in tournaments. Yesterday was our Area 12 Horse Trials held at Offchurch Bury and what a day it proved to be!
First off was our Novice Team of Katie Pope, Lily Stephens, Hannah Hickson and Phoebe Anderson. Their dressage scores were amazing across the board and some very positive riding cross country put the team into first place and qualified for the National championships.

We had a fantastic (although very long and hot) day yesterday at the Area Dressage Competition. First off were the Novices and representing us were Lily Stephens, Zoe Burroughs and Hannah Hickson. The test was a new one this year and proved a tricky one to learn but the team did well with Lily coming 7th in her Arena. On Saturday we had a lovely day in the Sunshine at Addington Manor with our Teams competing in the Area Showjumping Competitions. There were the usual dramas on the run up to the day and even on the day itself but the end result was a group of members who rode well, did the branch proud and smiled all day.

Another great day for SOHS yesterday at the Area Dressage with Nell Hargrove coming 2nd in the Open and Lucy Hill coming 2nd in the intermediate both picking up qualifying tickets for the championships.
Millie Taylor was 6th in the Grassroots , Izzy Tasker narrowly missed out in the intermediate in 3rd, with Charlotte Derde 5th and phoebe Anderson 6th.The Novices picked up two places with Hannah Hickson 7th in her arena and Tash Turner 8th.

We sent two teams to the Hickstead Qualifier for Area 13 at the weekend. The team of Annabelle Turner, Millie Simons, Izzyy Tasker and Hannah Martin came 2nd and qualified, the team of Hannah Martin, Annabelle Turner and Izzy Hatch finished 4th. Izzy Tasker jumped three clear rounds and came third individually. Very well done to all, the Championships is on August 3rd 2017.

Many congratulations to Charlotte Moore and Mary who qualified for the Dengie dressage finals yesterday at the Vale of Aylesbury competition. Charlotte and Mary scored and incredible 74.8 % for their test to pick up third place in the class and their qualifying ticket. A fantastic achievement.

Celeste, Rowan, George and Harlan took part in this event at the weekend.I congratulate them all on their enthusiasm, determination and sense of team spirit in supporting each other - we all had fun!
The final results were as follows:
Celeste won the U8 Girls Triatholon
Rowan was 3rd in the U8 Boys Triathlon
George and Harlan were 1st and 2nd respectively in the Tadpole Boys Tetrathlon class, with George also winning the shoot and run.

Emma Jackson and Walnut placed in Likit Open Eventing League - Date posted 07/11/2013
Emma Jackson and Walnut finished the season in 10th place in the Pony Club Likit Open Eventing League, winning a training bursary to the value of £50. Many of our members turned out for the preliminary round of Winter League Dressage competition at BCA today run by Garth Hunt PC.
Tsering and Lucy Hill were 4th and 5th respectively in the Novice Eventing Class with Sadhbha winning the Novice Dengie qualifier. A fantastic result in such a strong class. Residential camp at Rosehill this year proved a great success with instructors and members. A state of the art kitchen was generously supplied by Chris Hughes and the most wonderful meals came out of it co-ordinated by Tara Hyde with lots of help from other parents.
The proximity of the stables to the water supply and mucking out trailer, accommodation and marquee reduced the miles walked by each member, I believe that some were nervous about the showering facilities after seeing the picture More...

The Area Eventing competition in the heat at Milton Keynes passed off very sucessfully yesterday. Firstly, we must thank Sarah O'Hara, Jan and Caroline Potiphar for fence judging for us all day. Well done to Bobbie Howard Jones who came 3rd today in his first ODE on Percy. 30 Dressage mark and double clear over the beautifully presented courses at Primrose Hill Farm, Gawcott at 75 cm. Also it was nice to see Charlotte Moore there having a go, come on you younger ones a few more entries at these levels and we could make up some teams which makes a lovely day out. New Members Tetrathlon Success - Date posted 04/06/2013
Flo and George Carter did their first Tetrathlon at the weekend with great success! Flo had a bit of a nightmare in the shoot, but redeemed herself with excellent run and swim, and a clear XC to end up 14th.
George won his Tiddler class after coming 1st in the run, 2nd in the swim and 3rd in the beanbag throw - and of course clear XC - massive well done to them

The Open team of Chloe and Emma Jackson and Emily Martin won the Open team event yesterday in the sunshine! Emma was third on her dressage score, Chloe was fourth by on 0.3 penalties but picked up best dressage, Emily was competing in her first Open HT! Picture in the gallery section.

After a well attended Easter Programme, the Friday evening workshops at Pyatts start next Friday 26th April, evening with Dressage. Sessions start approx 5.30 (Dressage ¾ hr sessions) and split into ability and of course when you are available after school. If you could let me (Helen, hanger.farm@virgin.net ) know the earliest time that you can start if not 5.30 via email that would be helpful.

Phoebe Anderson took her pony club racing badge on the 29th March whilst taking part in a pony racing training day in Towester. She was the only member of the S.O.H.S But we flew the flag for our pony club, she had a great day and was successful, just wondered of any others would be interested as it was such fun. A cold day at Addington yesterday but a very successful one for SOHS!
In the dressage in the warm up class Holly Riley and Angel won the class with 67.56 with Millie Wogan and Harley hot on her heels with 67.50 to take second. In the Open Dengie Holly came 2nd on 66.77 picking up a qualifying ticket for the national finals. Millie Wogan came 5th on 66.12 narrowly missing a qualifying place. Millie Wogan and Harley have gone on to capitalise on their success at the Championships to win the Open Dengie Qualifier at Addington on 76% - 4% more than the person who was second.
Abigail did one of only 18 clear rounds in the Dengie SJ out of 96 starters and finished up 11th after the jump off - well done Abby and JonJo.
Holly Riley has also qualified for the second round of the Open Dengie

Well done to Isabella Tasker who after a great afternoon hunting on Saturday, jumping everything in sight, went on to win the Dengie Novice Pony Club Dressage at Rosehill on Sunday with over 71% and having already come second in the Premlin Class - what a weekend!

Rather belatedly congratulations to Rosie Armstrong who passed her B Test Stable Management recently to complete a pass in her Full B Test. Rosie has had a good summer - passing her R&RS, both her C+ and B Test and representing the branch in the sucessful intermediate dressage team at the Championships.

Well done and thank you to all those who turned up and had a go and to all that helped. The day kicked off with dressage - with everybody looking extremely smart (it was a very different story by the time we got to the fun and games section!). The team Louis played with (the royal artillery) came 6th out of 8 in the handley cross section. Louis and jack the nipper won the jambo trophy - for "best player pony combination which has regularly hunted and participated in other pc events and played polo"

Katie Bettison became the Intermediate Dressage Champion after being placed second in her arena and winning the ride off on Synod Rumpus.
