SOHS Paint Offchurch Pink. - Date posted 23/07/2018

Yesterday was our Area 12 Horse Trials held at Offchurch Bury and what a day it proved to be!
First off was our Novice Team of Katie Pope, Lily Stephens, Hannah Hickson and Phoebe Anderson. Their dressage scores were amazing across the board and some very positive riding cross country put the team into first place and qualified for the National championships.
It was then the turn of our Intermediate Teams, Jess Pope, Phoebe Anderson, Millie Simons and Maddie McTeague and Tash Turner, Phoebe Anderson, Flo Carter and Isabella Tasker. The sun had come out by now and the heat and the ground (although brilliantly prepared by Lloyd Hunt and his Team) proved challenging. Sound performances in all three sections meant a nail biting hour or so waiting for all the scores to come in but eventually it was announced that our Teams had come first and second split by only .58 of a mark. Both qualified which is an amazing achievement.
Last to go was Emily Martin in the Open making up a composite team with other branches. Emily, who has already qualified as an Individual, flew round the course to come 4th helping her team to qualify.
So now we have SOHS members competing at the National Championships in three different disciplines over 4 days of competition. How exciting is that?
Lots of special mentions from yesterday not just of our brilliant members and their Mums who drove and groomed but also to Lesley Hulse and her Team of scorers (all ex-members parents) helped this year by Annabelle Turner who would much rather have been competing but is sidelined due to injury. Also thank you to our jump judges Debbie and Sadie Foster and Janet and Charlotte Derde, we cannot enter our Teams without them so thank you for making it possible. Thank you to Hilary for providing the cake, another requirement for entering and one less thing for me to worry about. Thank you to Tara Hyde who went above and beyond the call of duty with Nell not able to compete, still came to support
