Blenheim Eventer Challenge goes well for SOHS. - Date posted 23/09/2013

Blenheim Palace Pony Club Eventer Challenge- Friday 13th September - Izzy Tasker.

It was a fantastic setting, in a beautiful arena. The course was very challenging and included skinnies, doubles, triple bars and lots more challenging fences. It consisted of 9 show jumps followed by 8 cross country jumps, all well up too height, finishing with an easy to knock down upright show jump! I was first to go in our team, Patch and I did a lovely round but rolled a pole at the first part of the double, Annabelle on Jazz also did a beautiful round but again rolled a pole. Next was Tommy and Snippet who had an unfortunate skid into the triple due to very wet muddy ground! Finally was Emma on Walnut who did an amazing clear, one of the few in the day. Overall our team ended on 8 faults which was superb although it was slightly annoying we just missed out on getting placed! 3 teams finishes on 8 faults but we were the sightly slowest and so finished up 7th with rosettes going to 6th place! Still a fantastic result considering there were 43 teams competing! However, we did get a beautiful blue completed rosette and a Dodson and Horrell goodie bag.

Belle and I also went on a course walk round the full Blenheim cross country course with eventer Paul Tapner and John Pitts which was a great experience although apparently the norm is too walk the course at least five times which made Belle an I think about working on our fitness levels! And you all think that Jane and I are mean when we say you have to walk the Area course 3 times! Well Done Izzy for doing this and thank you! - Helen.
